Help with exhaust work?
Hey Everyone,
I was wondering who has done the Mina Rear muffler delete?
or the Nameless 200 cell cats?
I want whatever I do to be able to go back to stock easy without cutting pipes, drilling wholes or anything close to that. I am dealing with a Silverstone with only 7,000 miles one it so I want to be able to go back to stock easy.
I was wondering if anyone has videos they could possible share of the Mina rear muffler delete.
I really like this sound, If i went this route I might buy an old exhaust off an wreaked XK8.
or this off a 4.2L 07-09 XK
I just don't want it to sound like a mustang. I want to try to as close to an Aston Martin V8 vantage as possible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Mike

I will educate you on this.
1. The power loss in our exhaust comes from running the piping over the axle, look in that area, the piping is almost squeezed flat.
2.The unwanted harmonics your hearing is because the folks doing the exhaust changes are NOT USING LARGE DOUBLE WALL RESONATED EXHAUST TIPS, just plain chrome tips.Buy these tips on ebay, not your exhaust shop, the price will triple.
3.You have an XKR, this means if you can do the UNDER AXLE,2.5 in exhaust and have your local speed shop make you a cold air intake, your looking a nice gain in power.
Example

Interesting, I didn't know about the power loss in the stock exhaust. I have to ask, can the under axle 2.5 inch exhaust be done to an XK8? What about the cold air intake?

3" pipes under the under the axle is MONSTER! I had to convince my muffler shop to do 2.5 " under the axler. Yes it definately possible giadanielxk8 to do the same to an XK8; you just have to find the muffler shop willing to do it. I got 2.5" on my XK8 with X pipe instead of the center muffler. Posted a video in another thread.

Mike,
I didn't opt for the Mina rear muffler delete, but instead, I went with the "full" Mina system. The full kit replaces everything behind the center muffler to the back of the car and goes under the axle. Everything in the kit is engineered to fit perfectly. It's a bolt on system with no drilling or welding required. Mina even supplied a bracket for the pipes going under the axle.
The muffler shop that installed the Mina system cut the original pipes once on each side with a saws-all. I have the original exhaust system stored in my garage tool room. It can be easily be re-welded and re-installed on my car should I ever decide to go back to the original system or if a future owner wants it. (I have been seriously thinking about selling my XKR and buying a 2006-2008 Super V8 in the spring!)
I don't know what all comes with Mina's rear muffler delete kit, but I can attest to the quality of the system I purchased. I give the kit an A+. It sounds great too!
As far as sounding like an Aston Martin...the only thing I have found that sounds like an Aston Martin, IS AN ASTON MARTIN!!! But, I have heard some awesome Jag exhaust, too!
Good luck to you!
Cheers!
Jon
