Help me pick the right part - Dealer is confusing me
I need to replace my purge control valve. The dealer told me the part I ordered was the wrong version. I can't look at what is installed since i know that one was a replacement part from around 7 years ago, so who knows that may have been the wrong part also even though the code is recent, or maybe both work.
My VIN is SAJGX204XXCO35616, some of the sites cut of the AB at VIN 024686 some cut it off at 042775
This is the email from the dealer,
------Hello Scott
Unfortunately, the VIN provided does not match up with a vehicle in my catalog, thus I am unable to guarantee the part will fit your car. That being said, there is another purge valve LJA1515AA for a SINGLE Emission system.
The LJB1515AB is for a twin emission system, this is defined by having two carbon canisters for the emissions system. If you can let me know which of the two you would like, I will make sure to send the correct part for your car.
Thanks!

This Heritage page may help you as you might be able to identify which configuration you have from the diagrams:
https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.../brand/jaguar/
JEPC shows 5 different configs, including one for Mexico.
Note that the first short VIN for MY99 is 031303
Sorry I can't give any better help. It is confusing:- I hope mine never fails...

I just replaced the front upper damper mounts on a customer car today (1998 XK8) and it is a twin canister car.(I had to remove it for access to the cavity to tilt the damper in there)
I would guess the purge valve itself is the same for all 4.0 X100 but the piping/tubing and connections are different?
You can buy any one you want and just get the plastic hoses to the correct locations to make it work.
The valve itself looks identical to the X308 with different connectors/hoses.(it is basically a Ford part)

The "other" purge valve is located on the left side of the car, under the left front fender liner.

On my 2000 XK8 convertible the canisters are attached to the body, behind the rear suspension. There will be one on either side of the car. The purge valve on that end of the car is located on the right side of the car, adjacent to that side's canister. Mine actually have the FoMoCo looo and a a 1995 Ford part number. They look suspiciously like the ones in my Mustang.
