Hi, MY name is Gary and i have a 1997 jag xk-8 convertable with a trans problem. It's automatic and trans shifts and works fine but is leaking trans fluid out of side where indicator or neutral safety switch is located on passenger side. Is this a seal and is it installed from the inside or outside please. I cannot drive car now as the fluid just pours right out when running in park?

fingers are crossed it is the gasket on the pan. That would be an easy fix. The transmission fluid should be changed every 50k (some say 100k) Either take the pan off yourself and change the fluid or take it to a shop.

 

The fluid is coming out of the shaft on the passenger side of the trans that goes to the indicator and/or neutral safety switch. How can i put a new seal in do i need to take trans apart i live in syracuse ny and nobody at any of the shops can help. Also where do i buy a seal ? Please if someone could help...............Gary
