He wouldn't be interested. For $1,000 less, the Donald Trump of negotiators thinks he can score an '06 XKR or '07 XK..

I thinks his car is beautiful but I'm not in the habit of spending more money for what something than its "actual" value. I'll love to strike a deal with him but I'm not trying to insult him either. I hope he gets every dollar he can! I have a newborn too (I'm a grandpa and new dad :-D )and I understand. If you choose to pay more than an auto is actually worth that's ok, that's your prerogative.

Alson, there's 2007 cars out there In the 15k price range... https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inventorylisting/viewDetailsFilterViewInventoryListing.action?shopp erListingsSearch=23480688

Plus on autotrader as well... If they're asking 17k trust me they'll accept 15k. I understand the car business & it's margins. And on cars like the XK it's all about Patience and what you can afford or willing to pay...

The eBay auction just ended with the hammer going down at $9,295.

Congratulations, you were only off by 100%...

Prices depend on a lot of things; and the car is not the only part of that. I've bought good cars cheap due to motivated sellers (one pissed husband, one lawyer who just wanted it gone, rent) but just because it's a firesale price doesn't mean that is what the going rate is. I bought a low mileage 7yo Audi A8L 4.5 years ago for $8k. That definitely wasn't the going rate.

If you buy a car with some issues, high mileage or salvage title; you likely will pay less. I've bought plenty of fixer upper cars; like engine problems, worn suspension, I prefer mechanical issues to cosmetic ones [depends on mechanical repair costs, some cars it's the other way round]. I think you can find a fixer upper Jaguar for reasonable money; I did on my XJR. I bought it a year ago for $4100 w/ 83k miles and a documented decent service history. It needed a front suspension rebuild, some dings popped, headliner replaced, a good solid cleaning, and the timing chain tensioners replaced. If I paid a shop to do the fixes, $4100 was too much; but doing all my own work (other than the dents for $150) I'm creeping up on $5200 total with all mentioned above and including a full rebuild of the supercharger and all new bearings in the SC and accessory belt drives.

I'm not saying the OP can't find cars for cheap; but your view on average prices is somewhat low. You probably can if you wait long enough and have $100 bills in your hand. That A8 I bought was the day after thanksgiving and showing up with cash sealed the deal to me over the other prospective buyers. My experience is that a car advertised on craigslist for a fantastic price lasts hours before sale. My record for selling a car is just under 2 hours from list to cash in hand. My record for buying a car is about 45 minutes from list.

Default Bank the extra dough......

You can get a great vehicle for 10K and not sweat the maintenance. (I also think the older Jags are better looking.....DUCK ! )

It isn't. That's where the damage occurred and I guess he replaced it with whatever he could find. The side rocker panels are non-OEM as well. Also has an XKR hood & rear spoiler.
