Hi,

I just had to change my battery and it looked like it was a hassle to reset everything after disconnecting the battery.

I figured I would try to keep all the settings, so before I disconnected the old battery, set up jumper leads over to the battery on my wife's car and connected them to the under-hood terminals on my XKR described in this post: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...64/#post368318

Worked great! No problems. The only two pieces of advice I have are:
1) Don't start either car during the procedure, and
2) Remember that when you take the positive lead off the battery you are replacing, it is still "hot" because it is connected to the battery of the other car, so take precautions to prevent it from touching anything - everything metal in the battery area is grounded.

Finally a couple of grumbles:
- Why oh why Jaguar, did you feel the need to put a T*-40 bolt on the battery hold-down bar? You could have used a hex-head bolt, or a Phillips head, or a recessed allen nut, or a knurled knob, or any of many other choices. Fortunately I was able to find a T*40 after significant hunting in the garage.
- These new "AGM" batteries are now about $170 and they're supposed to last 10 years, but mine only lasted 3 years, grumble grumble. Unfortunately it was put in by the previous owner so I don't have a receipt to replace it.
