Ignition Switch doesn't always work
About a month ago to start the car I had to go for the engine start switch a couple or lately three times to get the starter motor to engage. I had this same problem with my Taurus SHO years ago and ended up replacing the switch block on top of the steering column. Being a Ford like car, I assume it's the same problem. Anyone else have this problem and was it just the switch block?
I really wouldn't mind re-wiring it with a cool start switch on the dash!
Thanks!

No noise when the key hits the crank position and of coarse you only get one try before having to turn off the switch and starting over. Then it usually starts.
After taking a look at the wiring diagram I see that there's a lot more going on here than just a set of contacts. How about this Key Transponder Module? I see that the Neutral Switch is in the loop and of coarse the ECU too.
I use to have an AMC Javelin that did this so I hooked up a jumper wire under the hood to go right to the starter solenoid. Unfortunately my ex-wife used it to start the car unknowingly while it was in reverse. That's another story!
Is there anything in the key, like a battery, that would make using my second key an option?
So far it's corrected it's self by just recycling the key switch one or two times but does seem to be getting worse as to when and how many recycles it takes to get it to start.
I'll listen closely for the start relay to click when I attempted my start's.
P.S. Sam, I ordered a Fuel Check Valve yesterday and hope to replace my dash lights soon. Your video's are the best!
