My XK8 ignition will sometimes not turn the car off...there is play in the tumbler it seems. I bought another one from Ebay and when I received it, there's the same play in the off position. Wondered if this is a common problem that the XK's and XJ's have with ignition switches (maybe should have tried to source a new tumbler).

 

I've never found much difference in the 'feel' of the ignition key movement or had the issue you describe on any of the XJ's or XK8's I've owned.



Is the play in the Lock Barrel (item 9) or the Ignition Switch (item 4)?
