I'm so tempted but the wife isn't smh!
This popped up on my Facebook marketplace today! Been sitting for a few years and doesn't run. 80k miles and obviously some cosmetic issues lol. I have the parts to repair including a spare engine if that was the issue. Smh! Being short on funds constantly sucks!

Yeah, unfortunately she holds the purse strings and yes, she does hate me going and working on my projects lol. Unfortunately I do have 2 other project cars to try to squeeze money for. My first car, a 1980 malibu, and a 1977 Firebird Formula 400. So it doesn't help when I show her stuff lol. She has asked before what I'm getting rid of first. My answer is usually her Jetta lol

I just got a BEAUTIFUL 99 no-start XK8!!!
I'm thrilled!!!!
My wife doesn't yet know about this, but she is happy in her BEAUTIFUL 06 XJ8, so I think I will get away with it.
I'm on my second X-Type, so I feel that I'm ready for this one.
I think.
My first attempt at the post bore wash (I think and hope) start was a failure but it did turn over a few times before the battery died, so I am optimistic. I didn't want to crank it longer than 15 seconds at a time, but now read that it takes some folks much longer than that to get it running. Fuel pressure and spark are okay.
The car is otherwise beautiful (but the top currently doesn't go down.)
I got it for a steal, assuming it is the nikasil no-start issue, and even if it isn't, I feel as if it were a gift. Or I won the lottery or something.
I've been off the forums for a few years, but suspect I will be a regular again.
I hope so, anyway....

After 2 marriages (Most recent 33 yrs.), I have learned best to at least compromise if you want to stay married(VERY expensive not to). Even though My wife is not a 'car' person, she at least tolerates my hobby??
After she got a Cad. SUV, I traded my Mini Cooper convertible and '79 Corvette for an F-Type. She claims to still miss the Mini, even though she seldom drove it (access, hair blowing, etc. She claims the F-Type is too powerful, and too new. I bought the XK only after she drove it, and agreed it was 'pretty'. She still seldom passes a Mini without commenting on the 'cute little Mini'. I also hear from her whenever the XK has to go in for any maintenance. But.......we are still married.

I'm still on my first marriage and just hit our 24yr anniversary Monday. I had just turned 20 and she was almost 19. I don't plan on splitting, but there are times I wonder which would be more expensive in the long run lol. I do still have my other project cars, and she complains more that "if I'm not going to work on them I need to get rid of them", and then the next time is " all you ever do is work on your cars, and the house "needs" stuff too!" But also " can it wait until you get paid? We don't have any money right now!" But also "gee after bills we should have $1200 a month left over!" Last I knew we had $200 in the bank smh! She's good about keeping up with new clothes and stuff smh. Oh well I married for life, through thick and thin, better or worse and rich or poor. Lol
