Insurance Coverage
After hearing in a recent post that Hagerty was now insuring XK8/R's I got a quote from them this week. They would not insure the car a couple years ago when I asked. Rates are somewhat distorted since I already had two cars covered with them but saved about $200 per year compared to State Farm's counter offer and $300 savings from current coverage. Funny how SF came up with better rates when faced with competition. Final numbers were $225 per YEAR for liability/property damage/collision, $0 deductible/medical/stated value of $14k plus roadside assistance.
This level of rates are only for hobby cars, not daily drivers but I am sure there are lots of folks out there similarly situated.
Anyone do any better elsewhere?

I also got a quote from Hagerty for my 2000 XK8 in the neighborhood of $ 240 for the same coverage you got. Some restriction; a hobby car used less than 3,000 miles a year, which averages out to about 58 miles a weekend. I have a boat on the Chesapeake, and it's not unusual for me to rack up 200 miles on a summer weekend, so I ended up going with my current carrier, AAA, for an additional $ 180/year. I obviously won't get the $ 0 deductible, stated value and some of the other percs that Hagerty offers, but I didn't feel like sweating my mileage every year.
I just went to their website thinking they probably won't insure in Canada. But they do! and the online quote is 1/2 what I am paying currently. Thanks Test Point if I see you at a car show the beers is on me.
I got a quote of $720 a year on my 04 XKR with an agreed amount of $27,500. $500 deductible, no tickets, no accidents. That is not cheap insurance with limited driving of 1000 miles per year.

I have three of my older classic cars insured with Hagerty, and I wondered if now that I have my 2010 XKR, which I could classify as my daily driver, I could shift my 2002 to Hagerty. The three older cars cost me about $450/year, far less than my regular Mercury Insurance coverage. I'm glad to hear it, I'll be calling them on Monday.
Yes, me too. I have had Haggerty for close to 20 years, 72 Buick, 81 Corvette,. Just checked the box to add a vehicle, 99 XK8. All approved over night $ 200 per year. Guess it helps I have never had any type of claim. Rich
I can register my 2000 XK8 as a classic beginning next year (15 years old in PA), which places a somewhat vague limit on the extent of its use. At that point, the yearly State inspection will only be for safety-related items. At that time, if I find that I'm not driving the car more than 3,000 miles a year, I'll go with Hagerty; you can't beat their deal.
