Default Intake accordion fix

This is one of those things that seems obvious if you're familiar with the product but wanted to outline a way to patch up an intake. The product is a high-heat silicone based self-adhesive tape that upon stretching bonds to itself. Not the most attractive but will work well on a budget or until you can upgrade/replace.

I could have been neater in the application but it works fine and more importantly is airtight.

Yes, it works. I also use it as electrical tape for cables. I always keep a roll of this tape in the cars. It self-welds without adhesive.

Another tape that can do this and will look better is the cable wrap tape. It is much thinner, is elastic enough to dip into the accordion grooves and also has no adhesive to make a mess. I have not needed it on my Jag, but it has come in handy on the slightly older air intake on my 55 Chevy pickup. The intake is from a 1989 Camaro IROC TPI. The attached photo was taken a few months ago. The tape has been in place since 2016. Can you even tell that it is there?
