Default Keyfob reconnect won't work

After replacing the battery of my key fob I tried to reconnect it following the steps as found on Youtube etc. However when I pushed the buttons on the keyfob a beeping sound came from the back of the car (alarm?) and the key fob refused to connect. The red light on the J gate didn't come on either. Did I do something wrong? The second key fob still works fine.

There is no need to reconnect the FOB when replacing the battery, it should work OK straight away.
Because your second FOB works OK it sounds as if there may be more at fault with it than just a flat battery.

I had to replace the battery and wanted to reconnect it, at least that's what I understood from 2thegarage etc. But I'll ask my local specialist to sort it out. Thanks!

@Stumpy is 100% correct. No need to re configure the fob when doing a battery replacement. One action does not affect the other.

Z

PS / is there a chance you put the battery In backwards ? (No offense intended, it happens)

You don't say what year your car is, but earlier cars used two batteries not one - so if you did in fact change "the battery" and not "the batteries" it won't work.
