I've officially joined the club!
Well, after over a month... I picked up my 2004 XK8 today. It has been renamed from "Missing in Action" to "Abbey." Either for Abbey Road, or Abbey-Normal... you can choose. The dealer could not figure out the Driver Airbag light.. and I think I already have. I push the seat all the way back (I'm a big guy), and the light went out. So, thinking a bad connection on the seat harness probably. Has a few other issues I have to figure out. 1. Window on Driver side (Left in US) goes down when you lift the handle, but does not go up when you close the door. 2. Dealer/Wholesaler "misplaced" all the keys and fobs except one set. It seems the key fits everything except the Driver door? Any ideas about this???? Any help on my minor problems is appreciated! Mark

Hey IG;
Congrats on your new baby. Great color!
Don't forget the mudflaps.
There is a way to reset the window stops in the manual.
If you don't have that there are PDF versions in the FAQ sticky threads when this section of the forum opens.
No idea why your key doesn't fit the drivers door, unless that lock was replaced or damaged.
enjoy,
jj

Hey-- already making progress. I got the lock unjambed... it is working again. And, it seems like the "auto" switch to make the window go back up is inoperative. The one in the armrest works, but it does not automatically go back up, and the key does not raise that 1 window (but the other 3 go up). I have determined the mechanic took that door apart chasing the airbag light -- and probably skanked something up. I'm just glad to be making progress already. Not many things wrong that need attention. The important thing is it drives and handles stellar!! MC

"Window on Driver side (Left in US) goes down when you lift the handle, but does not go up when you close the door".
While sitting in the car with the door closed and the Engine Running:
Raise the window and continue to hold the button down for 5 more seconds.
Repeat for Window Down.
Repeat for the other Door.

After all the time they spent on the airbag problem it sounds as if the fix is going to be a lot easier than you thought.
The missing keys and fobs isn't such good news. You can usually pick up fobs on eBay. Make sure the number on the back is the same as the one you have and don't get European ones because they're a different frequency. Keys aren't so easy. They have to be programmed by the dealer.

Yes. Great progress already. I have set some time aside this weekend that I can dig in and try to chase the intermittent SRS light. I will take the connections apart and clean them. I will read the article on the dash bulbs again, and still thinking about those mudflaps . I actually found a locksmith in Orlando that can cut and program the Jag keys.. And, I had already been looking on eBay for another fob. Thank you all for the technical help and support. You are a great bunch of guys and a great site! MC

IG;
Racer is the only tech guy I know that does rusted door sill and fender well replacements and protection.
I am getting a set of mudflaps as we speak.
You should consider them if you drive or live near the coast since sea spray is just as corrosive as snow salt up north.
cheers,
jj

I am a fan of mudflaps-- In Florida, it rains all the time, and the wings always look like heck. The flaps keep the spatter down. From the pictures I have seen, the factory flaps do not seem obtrusive. I will probably get a set, put them on, and see how they look. If I don't like them, I can take them back off... MC
