Looks like fun, I wasn't sure quite what to expect with the title.

Any idea where this was?

OK I figured it out, made in Bristol.

Sadly it's a slow balloon!
"Apparently a normal balloon can accelerate 1500ft a minute, however because of its unique shape, this balloon is only limited to around 800ft per minute."

Gotta love it!

And no crop circles underneath, spoiling any theory that they are caused by Jaguar drivers.

For some reason .. Phoenix sticks in my mind a custom body shop maybe. If it were Albuquerque I think maybe there would have been alot more balloons in the photo. Sorry pic is so small .. I looked for larger. Couldn't resist the provocative header :-)

Yes - Manufactured by Cameron Balloons of Bristol in the UK.

It was the subject of a spoof Road Test by Autocar magazine in 1996. At 37.2 metres long and 21 metres high, the unusual shape made it a poor and unpredictable performer even by ballooning standards.

0 to 60 time was 9.2 seconds. Unfortunately this was 0 to 60 feet in the air. However, the power was impressive. A Colt C2 double propane burner kicking out 8200 bhp. XKRrrrrrrrrr

Thanks for the origin correction .. and your continuing the levity. I found the pic over a year ago .. glad it was Not Phoenix. Totally appropriate, it was built in the UK. 1996! Geese, the XK's were barely outta the barn.
