Key chain remote problem

I have a 2000 xk8 convertible.
I just replaced the batteries in my key chain remote but it still does not work. None of the 4 buttons are working, lock, unlock, lights, or trunk.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I had a remote that didn't work. The battery was too thin (wrong battery type)

If the Remote is transmitting, you may need to retrain it:

I had an issue with mine recently after I dropped it. Did new batteries and nothing. I took it totally apart and cleaned it contact cleaner, now working. Guess it got dirty with age. seems the rubber buttons soil the contacts.
