At last, another Jag
So after owing an '67 Xj6 and a '96 XJS coupe it been a long stretch without a Cat. I really fell in love with the XK8 but just too many issues so I moved on to a SL500. Great daily driver but my heart still went pitter patter when I would see an XK8. While entertaining myself looking at prices on BAT I was amazed at how inexpensive are the second generation XKs selling prices. But the more I looked into all the complicated systems on that model and the list of things that can go wrong it just confirmed why I have lost my interest in newer model cars. That got me thinking again about the XK8s. And as is often the case, the last year or two of a model are the ones with the problems solved. Sure enough the 2002 to 2006 years seem to have just the right amount of electronics and major issues handled.
Sooo, I just purchased a 2006 xk8 Victory Edition coupe, at my age unless something gets totalled, it will be the last car I buy. Two owner car, with 33k miles. Interesting history, sold new in San Diego and kept until 2023. Traded in to original selling dealer who listed it on BAT. Sold quickly to a buyer in Arizona and shipped. Only problem is the buyer is 6'6" tall and 245+ pounds. He didn't fit !!!. Without ever driving it or registering it he advertised and a buyer from Oregon bought it. He used it for some trips but advancing age and issues ended the trips so he listed it on CL. It was on there for a month and I stumbled over it and contacted. Result is car is waiting pickup by shippers to come here to Colorado. So now I have one of the last 129 SL500s and the last XK8. I'm very happy, who needs those expensive, complicated newer cars.

Every car comes with some items to fix initially. And while at it, new shocks are always a good idea.
