Loose Mirror Quick Fix

Loose Mirror Quick Fix
My interior mirror got loose at the windshield join, so I removed the rain sensor cover to investigate, barely pushed the mirror at the top and it slid right off the mount! The tab/slot arrangement must have gotten worn, as the mirror had obviously gotten "out of position", as they say.
Loose as a Goose it was...
After some thought, I remembered Pomosv's help with my https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...e-light-59385/ issue and the double sided tape, so I ran a thin piece of the tape around the top edge of the rain sensor cover. Then I slid the mirror back up tight onto the mount (didn't feel anything from the tab/slot area), placed the sensor cover tight against the mirror support cover and then pressed the taped side carefully against the windshield.
Stuck like glue, and doesn't look too bad! The mirror is now stable on its mount, and the sensor cover keeps it in place thanks to the tape.
I know, we'll see how long this arrangement lasts. I can say the third brake light hasn't budged since the "fix".

Well, the tape held the sensor cover in place well enough for a while, but recently the mirror has started to jiggle over bumps again.
I removed the cover (and tape) and will now read with great interrest Gus's mirror repair tutorial.
Update: Went out to the car and took the mirror off and squeezed the two clips together with the needle nosed pliars. Slid the mirror back on and it felt tighter, but I still didn't get any feeling of the tab and slot seating. Just to back up what I did, I taped the sensor cover back in like I did before, except I did a neater job this time.
Time will tell...Thanks Gus for the link!
