Default Loose wires in battery compartment

Hi everybody,

this is my first post. I have just bought a 2001 XKR in need of some TLC. I have found some loose wires in the battery compartment, does anyone know what they are for?

New owners often pose this question as their first post here on the forum. Those electrical connectors next to your battery were plugged into a commercial battery maintainer system while your car was on board the transit ship that brought it to the US from the UK. You can tuck those connectors away in your trunk now and forget about them....

Here's the battery Transit Relay:

Only a diagram because no one outside the supplying Jaguar dealership ever sees one. They are removed during PDI and the connectors tucked out of the way behind the trim until an inquisitive owner finds them.

You could find several unused connectors around the vehicle depending on the options fitted. Jaguar use a limited number of harness designs for each model and where an option or accessory is not included in the individual vehicle specification, the associated connector is present but unused. They do not fit blanking plugs or tape them up.
