Default Lowering Spring Question

Seems when I hit large bumps my drivers side rear suspension bottoms out. Doesn't seem to be a shock issue as the car doesn't bounce. Not sure of the make of spring as I got the car with them. Car sits low but level. Are some of these aftermarket spring known for loosing strength over time? Never had that issue with any of my other cars but who knows

They are red

Thanks!

Anyone? Buying new springs isn't an issue here....But if a shock is just weak Id like to not waste time/money. Ive just never experienced this. Ever

My "new" springs sit low as they are the wrong spring rate. However, they do not bottom out and the wheels do not rub.

If you have checked all the usual culprits (bushings primarily), then you likely do need springs.

No wheel rubbing and it sits level. Just in the past when having shock failures car would be bouncy....Not the case here

I have red lowering springs (adamesh) and no bottoming our problems at all.

Don't think the shocks contribute a great deal to the spring rate, so the spring going soft does seem more plausible.

Though I've only heard of this happening one time (Jeff in Tuscon) and it happened very quickly on new Mina springs so was probably a manufacturing defect.

I meant to say springs, not shocks when I responded. Sorry for the confusion.

As you noted, the shocks control the "bounce". The coils have more impact on the ride height.

Check the condition of your bump stop. I had to replace mine at 75k miles they are used a bit more when lowering springs are installed and my one was torn allowing the suspension to " bottom". I've had my blue Mina Gallery springs in for 80k miles now and do not have any issues with degradation. Just had everything else in the suspension (shocks, mounts, bushings, links) replaced but the springs were fine.

They didn't look awful but not brand new like. I was wondering if I should make some custom ones being car is lower. Has anyone done that?

Interesting question, the OEM stops have been fine for me. They actually looked okay at first glance but the driver's side had a tear that was very hard to notice but allowed the suspension to bottom.
