Here are some pictures about my H&R spring conversion. I only replaced the rear springs. It dropped almost an inch and is now perfectly level. The ride is as stiff as it was before.

Cost of springs was $340 incl. shipping from allsprings.com.

great before/after shots, definitely worth a thousand words!

So you say its just as stiff, does the *** drop if you do a little hard acceleration, and is the ride any harsher? (if you can recall?)

I can't tell the difference. The streets here in the Bay Area are very bad and make me jump around all the time. I like to drive fast. The car was always very stiff.

The drop does affect the rear wheel alignment quite a bit. I am thinking of adding maybe 3/8" back in by putting a thicker spacer between the springs and the chassis. The current (stock) one is about half an inch thick. I did the spring switch when one of the lower rear shock bushings went out. Now the other one is clicking so I have to remove the spring on one side anyways. Getting fast at taking out the springs ...

Markman, how about a write-up of a shock/spring removal?...If you do it well enough for enthusiastic DIYers, I'll be tempted to do it myself when my other shock bushing starts clickin...one already did, and I paid $200 in labor to have it swapped.

$200 for swapping the bushing is a great deal. I would not have done it myself if I had gotten it that cheap.
You need spring compressors. I had to cut and modify my harbor freight spring compressors (1 hour). Then you need a press for the bushings. I used part of the old bushing to press in the new one.
I'll do a write up when I replace the clicking bushing.

Mark, just to clarify my particular task, the $200 labor was for the shock replacement. It takes just as much time (according to the all-might all-data) to pull a shock than it does to remove a bushing and press in a new one. Since the price of the new Bilstein was only $95, the choice was a no-brainer. (plus I couldn't find a replacement lower bushing anywhere, I was told also they aren't available for our cars?)

Just something to think about...a new shock on those new springs may be worth it?
