Default Map Lights 1997 XK8

Hi Guys ! ... For some reason the Map Lights (on top of the rear view mirror), they go off when you open the doors, but once inside you want to light them up and they won't work.

Any tricks or settings that I am missing or don't know off ?

Thank you all !!!

J., sometimes "go off" means ignite (turn on), other times it means turns off.

Sorry but don't want to assume. Please clarify.

BTW, while you're typing please say door position for the when inside part mate. (Door open or closed?)

Thanks !
While doors are open ... map lights work. But once you are inside the vehicle and you need to turn on the map lights, they don't light.

Ok got it. Mine are individually switched, push to light. What to push? I never use them, I forget if its a switch or the bulb assembly. Based on the bulb assembly yelling at me last week as I pressed the pod in place, there's a off/on switch up there. Look around?

Btw they are not designed to illuminate if you turn the dimmer switch to click position.
