Default Mass airflow sensor

Am planning on replacing my maf sensor on my 2004 XKR and was wondering if the xk8 uses an identical part. I can get an xk8 sensor more cheaply than an XKR one.
Thanks

Different Part Numbers.

C2C7636 - XKR
C2S2670 - XK8

Why are you replacing the old one? Is the car playing up To find if the old unit is faulty just unplug it. The car won't like it at first and tickover will be messy for a minute or so, and you'll get 'restricted performance' - but the ECU will revert to default settings. If the performance improves then the MAF is faulty.

the MAF could well be faulty (or dirty) without being so bad that the car behaves better without it!

I know you can buy the sensor from an '05 Mazda 3 and stick it in an XK8 just fine for a lot less money. I don't know if you will have such luck with the XKR.

Thanks for the replies.
I have cleaned it twice and although it is running noticeably better it's still a bit jerky at low RPM's, so I figure it's on it's way out.
I tried unplugging it but the engine ran much worse, although I must admit I didn't probably leave it long enough for it to revert to the default settings.
I know the Mazda 6 can be swapped for the XK8 maf but was wondering about the XKR. Different part numbers but the internals might be the same.

I took the MAF out of my XJ8 and put it in my XK8 and it was fine. Numbers were very different too.

Do yourself a favor, and buy the correct MAF for your car, and buy an OEM or OEM quality part. Dont cheap out on this one, or you will likley get lean codes, restricted performance, etc. You can buy a Denso unit from WorldPac, etc.

I've been running the Mazda 3's MAF sensor for about 5 months now and I haven't had a problem. It is exactly the same part except for the part number. You can safely cheap out on this. The Jaguar part is overpriced and sourcing it from Denso is becoming troublesome.

Took the MAF out and will give it one more clean. If there's no change, I'll start looking for a replacement. Thanks guys for the input; it's been helpful.
