Why are you replacing the old one? Is the car playing up To find if the old unit is faulty just unplug it. The car won't like it at first and tickover will be messy for a minute or so, and you'll get 'restricted performance' - but the ECU will revert to default settings. If the performance improves then the MAF is faulty.

I have cleaned it twice and although it is running noticeably better it's still a bit jerky at low RPM's, so I figure it's on it's way out.
I tried unplugging it but the engine ran much worse, although I must admit I didn't probably leave it long enough for it to revert to the default settings.
I know the Mazda 6 can be swapped for the XK8 maf but was wondering about the XKR. Different part numbers but the internals might be the same.

I've been running the Mazda 3's MAF sensor for about 5 months now and I haven't had a problem. It is exactly the same part except for the part number. You can safely cheap out on this. The Jaguar part is overpriced and sourcing it from Denso is becoming troublesome.
