I'm looking for some red caliper covers for my 2002 XK8 and really like the MGP style covers made from aluminum and simply screw and clip on the calipers, allowing the brakes to stay cool, no glue allowed.
My question is this: They make them for 1996 =1999 but 2000=2005 are unavailable. I've talked to my mechanic and he says that as far as he knows the calipers are the same unless it's an XKR. Does anyone know if the actual calipers changed from 99 to 2002?
I have a set of the red glue on style (brembo look but I ordered with no logo on them) but I just hate to glue them on. They have to be taken off when the pads need to be changed and re glued. The MGP simply unclip.
I really don't want to paint my existing calipers as I don't think they really look that good.
Thought I should post a picture. Notice how they clip over the caliper bridge above the rotor.
Of course they make them for each vehicle but I can't believe the calipers would be so different form 99-2002 on a base xk8.
They would be considerably more desirable if they did not say 'MGP', the maker of caliper covers.
Never really lusted after brand name caliper covers
Oops! Forgot to mention they will come with jaguar logo or I can special order a leaper.
They're machined aluminum and the logo is laser etched and hand painted.
With Jaguar logo, I might like these for my 2000 XKR. Available?

david
I called and they said only 96-99. I've looked at the calipers from early and late model cars and they are basically identical although I was told that the rotors were enlarged by 20 mm on later cars.
I'm almost tempted to order a set and modify to fit. Wouldn't be the first time I tried to modify something and had a 50/50 chance!!
I wanted to order some custom caliper covers for my 2003 XK8 but the manufacture insisted they wouldn't fit with the 325mm front rotors. After doing some research I ordered them anyway because my moto is "if it don't fit, it will!" It turned out the back fit purrfectly and all I needed to do on the fronts was nip out 3/16" behind the mounting clips. I sent MGP the photos and told them all they needed to do was to bring the front mounting flanges inward 3/16" so hopefully the will offer them in the futrure.
