Mike Whisky 4500 XK8 2001 Hello and a tale of ineptitude
Hi There All,
I am new to this although I have often sat and searched through your collective wisdom to help with various snags that my 2001 XK8 has thrown at me.
Firstly many thanks for your help on these occasions, although you could not have known many of you have allowed me to not stress about the odd light or rattle here and there.
My tale of ineptitude is that having changed the upstream O2 sensor on bank 1 (Thanks to you guys) I took the beast for a quick run to warm her up and make sure that I had indeed hit the correct sensor. My ineptitude came in the form of leaving my code reader ( A cheap one) dangling in the drivers pocket attached to the connector. What could possibly go wrong! Everything is the answer to that little question, I saw lights that I did not know I had lights for!!
Any way after a quick Off and On again I had the engine check light to keep me company on the way home, after coupling the reader again I found that it was CAN bus code that had been set by the reader.
Anyway thanks guys and Girls for all the help and I am happy to be among your numbers
Regards

Is the Check Engine Light still on? You should perform a 'Hard-Reset' to clear out any erroneous anomalies floating around the system that may have been generated from the code reader. Also, did you perform a 'Hard-Reset' after changing the O2 Sensor? I believe the procedure is mandatory after replacing certain components; a light bulb--no, an O2 Sensor or other electronic component--yes.
