Default Mobile Connectivity Module

Forgive me if this has been addressed before, but I couldn't find a reference in "search."

WillJag's add-on Mobile Connectivity Module work if installed in a '01 XK8? The service adviser at my dealer's didn't think so, but wasn't sure. It was an option introduced in '06. Since the car is already wired for operating a cellphone (getting a working cellphone in there would be nice, but that's another tale of woe) through the steering wheel controls, isn't it possible to somehow rig in the connectivity module?

If you are talking about the Audio Connectivity Module, it will not work. It uses the fibre optic system which is not in the 2001 XK.
The cell phone though is easier. There is a harness available that will plug in directly to the factory phone harness. It allows use of the volume control on the steering wheel, but not the actual phone button. It is all voice activated, mutes that radio when a call comes in and actually says phone on the radio screen.

Good to know this. Thanks for the info. Can you tell me what I'd ask for if ordering one of these harnesses and where I might buy one?

www.nicestuffonline.com The part numbers you need are 68675 (10 pin) or 68677 (14 pin) depending on you having a 10 pin or 14 pin connector. They retail for $79.99 each.

They will connect to the Motorola or Parrot. My preference is the Motorola IHF1000. All voice activated.
Anyway, you call them to order it and they will ask what you are connecting it to....motorola, parrot, raytel etc.
