When you replace the battery, do a hard reset (search for procedure).
I agree with all the above. Batteries look good and start the car but if its on the way out that initial drain draws on the cars computer and throws up tons of faults. The normal one is DSC fault with accompanying light. The CTEK advice is excellent too. I have 3 chargers but now use nothing but the CTEK. A fit and forget type of solution. Loads of details on Youtube.

As for resetting the settings................. Have a read........... Click Me To See How To Reset The Settings.

Good luck. Looks like a nice car you have there.

Plus one on the battery. The Interstate Megatron is to be a good replacement. It worked for my car, which had a myriad of lights, codes, and inoperative systems. Find the hidden key hole for the boot lid and make sure your key opens it.
Looks like a beauty!

Yes battery solves several issues. Changes the plugs and coil packs and the car is now drivable. Pulling the valve covers now for the tensioner inspection/replacement.

Question. How will I know if the secondary chain has slipped a tooth or two ?

Wrightbenz,

Well bad timing typically shows as a rough running engine, if you're familiar with the engine sound, and in the old fashioned cars, a "coughing" engine typically needed a tune up. Unfortunately this is not possible with modern GDI engines. I've never set the timing on the AJ-V8 engine but I know there are specialist tools needed esp. as there are no TDC marks and you need to lock the flywheel at 45ATDC. More experienced Forum members will chime in, if you need to do this.

If you hear pinging STOP! as it's an interference engine and you can cause all sorts of problems. Check out Sklimii's excellent 2018 thread on his experience with horror pics. Post #27 has pics by BobRoy, with Sklimii showing Gen1 tensioners in Post #38 (plastic bodied)

When driving, you should have a noticeable lack of power, and sluggish response. Wouldn't be surprised if the CEL comes on, and if you have a OBD2 reader, it should engine errors with bad fuel trims, and exhaust emissions.

If all is well, the flats on the front of the cams will all be in alignment. This post of Paul Pavlik's shows you how to check. It also gives a good view of the metal-bodied secondary tensioner:
