My Strut Mounts were Disentegrating!
Hi folks,
Thank you for sharing all your knowledge in the forum.
Having just bought an XKR I found that the cars front were appr. 15 - 20 millimeter lower than as per spec. I started to search the forum for guidande and understand that there are a few members that make and provide top mount bushings, of which are made of by far better materiel than what’s available by sparepartshops etc..
I would like to get in contact with Steve Davis in Australia - does someone know how to contact him without using FaceBook?
Thank you.
Kind regards
Claes

According to URO the later/darker colored mounts are better than the older versions.
I installed some darker URO mounts on two of my XKs but got some of Wayne's mounts in stock.
If/When the UROs fail, I will install the Wayne Mounts.

Robak, l do a kit which has additional bushes to cover all known mount variants. There is probably just as many owners out there with URO mounts as OEM now, unfortunately failure is more or less guaranteed with the URO. Message me for more info.
Just got my rebuild kit from Steve Davis about 10 days ago. Although my yellow URO mounts are holding up for now (other than the left strut now having drifted off center), I will be tackling this project (again) in a few months. Great service from Mr. Davis in Australia.
How do you order a set? My 02 xkr 100 is knocking about. The mounts look like powder

Doug, if your car can set a few days, send them to me and I will rebuild them and send them right back.
PM me if this is an option for you. I do have cores sometimes, but it's a busy time of the year, with the weather warming up.

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums. It's great to have you with us.
Please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST and post a required introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.
Cheers,
Don
hello Wayne, I am having the struts taken out this week. I gave it a shot but didn't want to take more of the suspension apart to get them dropped out. I had to replace 2 of the chrome rings on the BBS wheels, (that was not fun) and a bunch of other odds and ends while waiting for the classic plate to show up. I would love to ship them to you when i have them taken off for a rebuild
Doug, give me a PM and I will give you the mailing address.
Looks like you need one more post to be able to PM, just say like to this and that will do it.
Thanks Wayne

just trying to figure out how to message
thanks Wayne, trying to post so i can get access to the PM feature. The car i picked up came out of an estate in winston salem. 2 xkr 100 convertible. i got it looking a lot better, now working to get it on the road.
Phillip, get those 5 posts and give me a PM, or I will keep up with you and see when you get that requirement.
You didn't post a location, so you might be close enough we could get them done here.

Phillip, if you read the many threads about these mounts, you will find a few years would be overestimated.
Mine are doing much better than that when any areas of concern are taken care of.
These are one of the problems and yes we have made great progress getting better bushings but understand it's not the only issue these cars or any car that is 20 years old can have in the suspension.
When replacing the top mount, which most can see needs attention, most of the time the bump stop is bad or gone into dust. That part comes with a bump stop and the bellows in a kit, several will work, I use the KYB-101, check around for the better price. The top A arms bushings can also need some help along with sway bar bushings. If your height from the center of the wheel to the top of the fender arch opening is below 15 inches, you also might need new springs.
So, you can see, lots of things could have been neglected over the cars life and that's only the front.
Do you intend to do your own work, lots of Youtube DIY on the front shock mount replacement procedures.
As for price, I think you will find when we talk that I just trying to make a better mouse trap for the cars and gave up on being a millionaire.
Need you to send me yours and I will rebuild and send them back a quick as I can. Sometimes I have cores and can send you a set, but I require you to send me yours back. So far this has kind of half assed work, so that's and iffy on what is working right now. When you can PM, we will talk.

Agreed. I have been running Wayne's custom front shock mounts on my wife's 2006 XK8 since June 2022 with absolutely no issues. Wayne's and Baxtor's extensive research and development of their XK8 suspension components are indeed the only way to go....
