Default Nav/3 Gauge Cluster Conversion

I have a 2004 XK8 convertible and was wondering if anyone has changed out the navigation unit for the 3 gauge cluster.
I prefer the dash with the 3 gauges and the nav is virtually useless as there are no updated DVD maps.
Thanks
Harry

Hey Harry,

It is not a difficult job. I did it myself last year and it is certainly a diy job. If you buy the kit from TheJagWrangler - Home - About Us and follow the instructions (just take your time) it is a piece of cake.

Thanks I will follow your advise. The Nav was a ugly option.. in my opinion.
Does any year gauge cluster work on a 2004?

Far as I know, yes. I have a 1997 cluster on a 2001 xkr. Dash did not change over the years.

Just check with jag wrangler when you buy the kit. I would think ok.

All the 3-gauge clusters are interchangeable, but there are some minor differences which you may want to consider. See my Jaguar Journal article, page 27 here: https://www.jcna.com/sites/default/f...Jun%202017.pdf
for a discussion of the differences.

I recently did the 3 gauge conversion on my ‘02 XKR using the conversion harness from JagWrangler. This is a fairly easy task as the instructions are very detailed and straightforward.
The biggest issue is getting a 3 gauge panel that closely matches your existing dash and airbag panels. I seem to recall that there were 13 different patterns used.

It will be a bigger project finding one that matches.
Thanks for your reply

Hbarr!; I would suggest if you are going to all the work to install the three gauge cluster; get the realgauge kit so that the gauges actually show information instead of being cosmetic.

I did the conversion using JagWrangler's kit. They supplied a 3 gauge cluster, so I now have an extra set of gauges. Anyone can have them fro the cost of shipping from S.W. Fla.
Conversion works great.

I will take them that would be great. Thank you.
Where In SW FL do you live. I lived in Punta Gorda for 12 years and
moved back north for family reasons.
