Navagation CD Update

Navagation CD Update
I know, the latest is from 2003 and can be downloaded and I know Jaguar has abandoned these systems. What I'd like to propose is that we, this forum, as a group approach the company that originally supplied the navigation system to Jaguar and see if we could guarantee them sales of X number of copies, if the would produce an updated CD. We could even offer them some free advertising on this site. What do you guys think? Has anyone tried this approach before?

I think that X-number would have to be very large to even make the creation of such a disc profitable to a company the size of Navteq. And i think that number would not nearly come close to being fulfilled by members here on these forums, and I wouldn't want to volunteer to finance that purchase either, not at the $200 price per DVD they currently sell to modern jag systems. Is it possible, sure...unless something happened to all of their alpine software/hardware design notebooks.
Gus corresponded with them formally, granted not with any such proposal as you are sugggesting, but they did not give any indication they would EVER remotely consider creating an updated map disc for the discontinued alpine system.

I was not aware that the latest disc (03-04) could be downloaded, where can i find it to download? I have an 06 model year but it is not running the latest disc, the guy i bought it from must have used or sold the latest disc and was running an old version, any help in finding the latest disc to download would be greatly appreciated.

Jaguar USA Called Today
I got a response to the email I sent out last week to Tata's president. The woman said the the exectutive office at Tata forwarded my email to Jaguar UK, who in turn forwarded it to Jaguar USA (in NYC). I was offered an apology for the run around I was given and told that Jaguar tried to work out a deal with NAVteq back in 2004 and 2005 but were unable to reach an agreement for continued map support for the older Alpine units. In the end, we're still in the same place, with old, unsupported Nav systems but at least someone listened to my rant.

Hi All; I just purchased a 2002 XK8 with the Alpine navigation system loaded with the oldest possible disc. From what I have read, I understand that the vendor is NOT providing updates. I also understand that there is a later disc than the one I have. At one time, it was possible to download it from this forum. Can anyone provide with with an updated link, or can anyone burn me the latest albeit old disc? I would be more than willing to reimburse someone for their time and trouble. Thank You.

So Close, But Not Quite
H Mark,
Thank you so much for this. Unfortunately, I have my 2002 disc back in the car.
The 2003 files took a while to download, but ultimately they did so just fine.
I was very impressed when the DVD writer opened all by itself. Cool.
The disc copied just fine.
Loaded it in the car with high hopes.
No luck - "Disk Error".
Made another disc. This time I slowed the burn time down to 4X and had the data verified afterward.
Still no luck.
I used the recommended DVD+R discs.
Not sure what the problem could be. Everything seemed to go well.
Any ideas?
Thanks - Jim

Actually I did use a three different burning mediums. The one that auto-started, Media Player, and even a simple "Send To" command. 4 discs total. No joy.
I hope it's not because of this dreaded Vista OS.
Mark or H20: Would either of you entertain burning a disc that works in your own car and selling it to me? I'll pay for shipping as well. A quick PayPal should do the trick.
This obviously isn't in the "crisis" category, but I'll bet a year or two of newer nav data would make a difference. My only complaints with the '02 disc's data are the new highway interchanges that create some "interesting" work arounds, and many smaller roads are not depicted.
Thanks - Jim
