Default Need Advice

My girlfriends 2 Boys are on College Break, (19 years old) are coming over this evening. Neither of them knows of the existance of The XKR that's been sitting in a locked room next to my home office.

The decision to expose it's existance came up again. It's an unusual 57 degrees and dry here in Western NY today. What's your advice?

Why would you hide it? Do they want to use it? At 19 I drove a Corvette and I didn't follow every law. I maintained it religiously, but I did fracture laws and go through tires.

I never got to borrow my dads stuff. Even if you trust these boys and they're good kids, they will get on it.

Just because they see it doesn't mean they get to drive it.

If that rule was true, then I would be up to my neck in E-types, F-types and a Maserati or two.

Show it off, maybe drive them around a bit, just keep the keys in your pocket.

My advice is to show it to them but under no circumstances let the drive it. 19 year olds are not mature enough to be trusted with an XKR.

Ten years old with only 14k miles? Yes drive it! But maybe then you won't be able to keep it in a bedroom...

Depends on how long you've had this GF... short time keep it to yourself, long time and you've been around her boys before let em in on it, the cool factor always helps.

I agree, based on level of "attachment" to GF. More important, there are GF's and there are GIRL FRIENDS, At least that is the way I remember it, being married to my last GIRL FRIEND, for 42 years this August.

I find some of the replies hilarious xD i'm 19 and very close to buying an XKR and i'm more than mature enough to handle it. Age and maturity do not always go hand in hand. As for the OP: it's a case of 'Look, Don't touch'

My granddaughter is a new driver. This past summer, I asked her if her wanted to take the Jag for a drive around the block and she refused. She is a little afraid of driving. Of course 16 year old girls are much different than 19 yr old boys.
Yesterday I gifted her my 2000 Saab 9-3 SE.

Same here .. BTW the car stayed hidden after the entry of the first one with his 6 week old tires at 30 tread remaining. Another 5 pecent was left in tire smoke upon leaving. I NEVER did that kind of stuff when I was 19, I treated my 409 Impala with tender loving care . Wan't my fault that they put guard rails in the driving lane.

Unless you are worried about them stealing it in the middle of the night for a 300 mile off-road joy ride, show it to them. They'll go "Cool! Does it run" to which you reply either yes or no. If you say no, they'll ask "What's it need?" To which you reply "A new radiator hose".

That way, they see it, you can start it to let them hear it, but by no means can you take them for a ride....it'll over heat.
