Well I bought yet another xk8 (if you can afford to buy a jag buy more - you'll need them for parts)
year 2000 convertible.
Vehicle intermittently shows "Performance Restricted"
I found this little piece up by the firewall on the drivers side near the power steering cover, under the coolant reservoir
It was dangling from some tape and not attached to anything
Googles (not so intelligent) AI keeps telling me its a map / barometric/atmospheric sensor but I can only find those with 4 pins
This has 2 pins
Attaching photos:
It has 2 wires on one end , 2 pins on the other end
and the number printed n the part reads
613
300
15QF
please can anyone identify what this is ?
(and if so ... is the same part in a 1998 XK8? is it compatible and where do I locate it?... I live hours from any city to buy one , if I can cannibalize off my other jag I will )
Don't know but that sure looks to be added by some previous owner. I would remove it. Anything else left?
Dump garbage AI and get the shop manual for your car. Get a scanner than can read the codes the car has. When you get restricted performance there is a reason so chase those codes down first and post back what the car shows.
Have you done any other repairs?

Motorcarman has correctly identified it as the coolant level sensor
but actually the Dash warning is coming from an intake leak because the manifold isnt sealing correctly (my husband found that when his cigarette smoke got sucked into the manifold hahaha)
.. I'm in the middle of swapping that off the other jag now
