Default new jag owner looking for upgrades and info

Hi all-
Just bought my first jag, I love it. Its a 2001 XKR with 125k miles on it. Looking for advise on when and how to service it? What are likely things to go wrong etc? What are the biggest services and repairs I should be prepared to afford?

I also am intrigued with the Arden body work. Is there a version that can bolt on without significant body work needed? I really like to look of the nose and side pieces.

My XKR already has stainless exhaust, secondary timing tensioner, ECM remap and a few more tidbits. Seems to run extremely well.

Any advise is appreciated!

Repairwise?

Convertible Top hydraulics
Fuel Pump in tank leads
Front suspension rebuild
Splitting Coolant Tank

Just off the top of my head.

Hey Hooverhoff--welcome to the group.

Much of the Arden stuff looks decent but is also pretty pricey. The problem is that once you do one thing, like the nose, it throws the overall look off a bit so that you really have to do a more complete body kit to look right.

By the way, you mentioned that there was already a remap of the computer. How was that done and by whom?

Default remap and body work

I've requested the info on the remap from old owner. I'll forward it when I get it.

Yeah the body work is a double edge sword. Is any of it straight bolt on without the need for a professional body shop etc?

Seems like the nose would actually protect the original a little bit. The car just looks like it's asking for some kind of clothing....

thnx for the response.

The front and rear bumper replacements may be straight bolt-ons but you will still need to get them painted to match the car. There are at least a few other members here who have played around with body kits so they could be more help.

So is the "Alameda" in your location the one up in northern Cal?

Default Alameda

Hi Doug, yes it is the Alameda in Northern California. Where are you all from?
Today I get to drive down to Fremont to view an apartment building. Oh yeah! Driving down the 80 in the Jag.

If I'm not mistaken, the exhaust system from the factory is stainless steel. If the body on your XKR is in good shape I would leave it alone, I would only do a body kit on a car that the body need repair. Enjoy the car as is, the design from Jaguar and the "R" performance.
