I am getting a spare key made. I only have one and that too much of a risk. The company making the keys asked me if I wanted just the key or one with and integrated remote. Is it possible to use a key with integrated remote with a 2001 XK8?

2001 up and the fob is the later Ford type, so it's possible to have a flip-type integrated with the key.

I am based in the Netherlands. It's a firm in Alphen a/d Rijn (Alphense Sleutel en Slotenservice). With integrated remote its 160 Euro. I will go along tomorrow and see if they actually can do it!

 

Got my new key. In the end just got the key for €89. Making the key work in the door and getting the immobiliser chip working was easy but they had to do a lot of manual fettling to get the key to turn in the ignition. Took them nearly an hour but I think it’s pretty good for the price. Better than the costs I might have if I lost my only key!
