20 Chrome lug nuts for $17

The original nuts have covers that tend to fall off, especially after being serviced by a mechanic..

From the sellers description, it sounds like they will only work with ET wheels.

 

After an exhaustive search for new lug bolts I found none that would properly fit the XK8/R wheels. Ended up removing the steel covers, polishing them with a buffing wheel and epoxying them back on the actual nuts.

 

I see, so can you remove the the nuts with the covers epoxied onto them? I guess Nally might have the covers?

Otherwise the OEMs go for 6 bucks a piece from auto parts warehouse (but don't look as good).

 

The covers are not sold separately and are polished stainless steel rather than chrome plated. The covers were not intended to be removed but can be pressed off easily by inserting a small piece of 3/8" wood dowel in the nut and running it onto the stud or by an 18 year old tire jockey with a 500 foot pound air wrench.

Eight dollars was the cheapest I found a couple years ago ($8 x 20 = $160) . . . for lug nuts!

 

Ok, I'll have to talk to my dear mechanic and see if he has found them. Bah!

 

I can do a set for $100 not sure what the delivery cost would be, I dont have any in stock at the moment but can get them easy enough, they are not OE but look exactly the same.
I dont normally have to buy them as I have dozens laying around from putting on after market wheels, most of them use cone nuts.


The nuts shown on ebay will not be any good for an XK even though they advertise as so.

 

No, they won't fit. It's not so much the thread size as the unique profile jag uses. The ones you posted have the common acorn style profile, Jag wheels require the flat profile:

Last fall I priced a complete set of lug nuts for our '02 Chrysler T&C and they were $5 each X 20 = $100. So, as has been said numerous times before, "The nicer things in life cost a bit more".

 

Had a good laugh at that one.
