Default New Plates Arrived

Got the plates for the Jag today. Guessing our UK members will get it (especially those in Wales ). The 'thing' on the left of the plate is an outline of the track at Road America, Elkhart Lake WI.

(Sorry for the large size, not sure how to reduce it. )

There are holes behind the plate thro the trunk panel .if not sealed water gets in and when you open the trunk the water runs to the front of the trunk and rusts the joint between inner and outer ...

Nice plate and also nice to see the Imperial Motors sticker. We (Coventry Foundation) were lucky enough to win the bidding on most of the desired lots when Imperial sold off their business. Among other things we were able to acquire 3 WDS machines from them and now have a WDS in 4 areas of the US to aid folks to keep their cars on the road. The Foundations home machine is currently at the local dealer helping a 'bricked' XK get back on the road. KEEP that Sticker!

Tell us more of these mysterious initials. Many think the rest of us know all the acronyms and initials for everything XK. We don't. What is WDS?? TM

I saw that. They had/have been sealed with some sort of adhesive 'sticker'. Probably by the dealer. But some of them have dried out/were were peeling off. I replaced them with "Flex Seal" tape (as seen on TV )

Btw... great name! I used to be 'pissed 'n broke' too on occasion; mostly when I was younger.

Thanks!

Appreciate the input on the 'Imperial' sticker. I was going to take it off, but now will leave it in place as you suggested.

As a 'noob' I have to ask: what is WDS and where is the one closest to Chicago/the upper midwest USA?

Also, looked up the Coventry Foundation... and joined!

If you're referring to the initials on the plate? It's a phonetic rendition of the Welsh 'toast'. As the Brits say 'cheers', Irish 'slainte', Germans 'prosit', the Welsh say 'iechyd-da' - pronounced: "yah-KEE-dah". 'YAKYDA' was as close as I could get, using 6 letters (I'm a 5th gen Welsh/American btw )

Have also asked about 'WDS'.

Thanks in advance.

Google indicates WDS is World Diagnostic System that Ford used to allow OBD2 port diagnostics on early Ford and Jaguar produced cars. It was later superseded by IDS and then SDD. IDS- International Diagnostic System ad SDD- System Driven Diagnostics, according to my research. Hope the above info is accurate since time has elapsed from original research.

Sorry for the delay but yes--WDS is the World Diagnostic System. It works well on 1995 to 2006 Jaguars and will allow programing of modules and such. As said the machine we hold in SC is currently at the dealer un-bricking a 2016 XK. You must use IDS software but it is capable of the job. The Foundation also holds and loans service tools for JCNA members as well as Foundation patrons. One tool that came from Imperial that has been used a lot is to allow the removal of the serpentine belt on the XKR with out the normal fuss. Glad some of you checked the foundation out asd became familiar with our mission.

I was told by the state the I would not be issued "FKATT" because it appeared to be obscene yet the state supreme court court just struck down a law prohibiting signs that say "F*%& Biden, F*&% Trump" etc. I guess my tag is not part of the 1st amendment even if I only wanted to verify my F-type.

Guessing that the state can choose what they want to 'print' on a plate. I was originally going to get 'YAKIDA', but the state rejected it, even though a search indicated that it hasn't been used. So go figure.

I had a '97 VW Passat TDI (diesel) for over 20 years and was a long time member (Diesel Grandad) of 'Fred's' (TDIClub.com). One of the Illinois guys had a plate that read "FK OPEC". Must have been a like-minded person in the plates dept that let that one get through.

Gary here is a poor pic of your Imperial Motors sticker on a vintage Sun machine as the truck was loading out from their business. Enjoy.

It is old school but it is worth its weight in gold for pre OBD2 cars!
