Default New Wheels and Tires

Contemplating replacing the wheels and tires on a 99 XK8. Has the original 17" rims with undersized tires. Do not like the original rims. Options are find new 17" wheels that are more attractive and 245/50/17 tires (seem hard to find) or go with the option of 245/45/18 front and 255/45/18 rear. I like plan B but as far as I can tell, that would eliminate the possibility of rotating the tires for even wear? Am I missing something?

If you go to 18 inch rims you can run the same size rims on the front and back. Jaguar staggered the stock 18 inch rims but you don't have to. The 17 inch rims have the same offset front and back which I think is 33mm. Just get the same offset on the 18inch rims and run 245 or the 255 tires front and rear.

what David said!!!! When I replaced my 17" factory wheels, I went with 18" non-staggered with no issues

I am going to stick with the factory 17's for now. I'm assuming I can fudge the aspect ratio as much as a 245/55. Am I wrong? It seems there is plenty of clearance.

Rex,

Do some Shopping! Concentrate on what you want the car to look like! Go through the Photo files until you have 2- or 3-Wheel Designs that you like best of all....You are going to be spending close to $2,000.00 on these Wheels so pick out the best ones for you! They will make your Coupe Beautiful Automobile! My Coupe is Black also and the "Montreal's" make it look Super.....Spend your Money in the right places and take your time and you will have one of the most Beautiful Coupe's around! Look at them all and choose one or two that you would like to have and then choose wisely to build your Black Coupe!!!

Send me some photos of it and I'll make some suggestions if you want!

Here's a company that makes wheels for Jaguar. I lucked into a set by shopping on car-part.com, and found a set in a breaker yard. Got them for $350 shipped for the set!! I was looking for stock wheels when I came across these...

Well, darbysan,

I'm confused! I thought you were getting the Multi-Spoke "Coventry" Wheels shown in the advertisement you sent and you sent me a Photo of a Beautiful Red Coupe with 5 Spoke Wheels instead! It's Beauty but I was expecting the "Coventry" Wheels........Where did I go wrong?

Anyway, if this is what you got for $350.00, you did well!

They are an older Coventry wheel. I don't think they make this one any more, but definitely said Coventry on the inside.

Avoid the 255s on the front. The car will not feel right.

darbysan,

Now we know who the Wheels were made by and what they called them: ....Coventry "Hornets"!!!

My first XK8 was a 1997 Topaz Coupe that had 18" "Revolver" Wheels!. It also had "Plastic" Cam-Followers that cost me alot of money to fix!!!
