Default New window glitch

My 1998 XK8 convertible's driver's window (US) does the proper drop when opening the door from the outside, but fails to go back up when the door is closed. Ideas?

Kitty (is that what you like to be called?), I have a 98 too. First thought is door switch.

Do puddle lights on that door light properly? (On if door open, off if door shut)

Does drivers door open/ Red light display under Speedo in message center, when ignition on, door open?

The car may think the door is shut, no puddle lights go on, no door open message. These are both connected to the operation of the door switch in the door' s female striker latch.

Let us know the results. It's a common problem and we can help. If I'm wrong, we'll try another test.

Losing window limit switch settings for the auto drop feature is often the first sign of a failing battery.

With modern Jaguars, always check and eliminate battery condition/charge first as a possible cause before looking for failed components or harness issues.

Smile Battery indeed!

Hi,
I had the same problem with my XK8 -04 sedan.
Battery was only half charged due to me only driving 10 km to work.
After being fully charged, both windows lower slightly when doors are opened and raise fully when doors are closed.
Remember to reset the bottom-top positions for the windows by lowering, hold the button and wait for the click-sound.
Do the same procedure when raising the window.

My 98 did the same thing about a year ago, the factory window reset as mentioned above cured mine.
