Nice plate
Most U.S. States have "Vanity Plate" programs that allow the Car Owner to Specify a Custom Lettered (within limits) Plate.
Since there are 50 States there could be 50 Plates with the same Lettering.

I have V4 XKR that came with the car when I bought it. I think the explanation from the previous owner was V4 for 4ltr .... not sure I buy that but the plate is cool and will stay with the car whilst i have it.
This plate is currently available in Texas. You can buy it for 1, 5, or 10 years. $595 USD for 10 years.
And remember kids, you get one for the front AND another for the back of your car for this one low price!

I can't seem to get Merc drivers to race me, and the ones that do aren't overly impressive. It seems that they are more about the name then anything. Other brands car guys seem to like it though!
Actually in Arizona you get two plates, only one of which you have to put on the car. This I know first hand - see my avatar.

Sorry for my late reply, I've been traveling again, this time to London...
No, personalised plates don't sit well with French left-wing/egalitarian politics. They don't really go for flash cars over here, and setting yourself apart through number-plate creativity is definitely out.
I believe the UK record was something like £175,000 a DB9 owner paid for K1 NGS, can't really understand why.
I'm more into self-deprecation myself. The best plate I've ever seen was on a bright red Lamborghini Countach many years ago in London - PEN 1S

In the UK, we're not able to make up letter or number strings the way you can in the US. Our numbers are all issued by DVLA (Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency) and follow strict formats of letters and numbers. "XKR" just wouldn't be issued here.
