Default No OBD2 data

I have finally got the 2001 XKR running and shifting. All the error messages that were parading across the dash readout have disappeared. I am not sure exactly why,but I will take it.
However the check engine icon is still lit. When I hook my scanner up it reads "no codes". Nothing. The scanner recognizes that it is hooked up to something, but it won't read any codes and it won't clear the check engine icon. Any ideas as to why this might be? The car did set for a couple years without battery power. Does it take awhile for the cpu to develop some codes. Do I need a different scanner?

There are certain codes which also set the MIL (CEL). The MIL doesn't display alone without a relevant code.

No codes at all suggests you need a different scantool/code reader or the diagnostics port fuse has blown. Even with no faults, you should ALWAYS see either P1000 or P1111 - the status codes which indicate whether OnBoard Monitoring Tests have been completed or not.

There are 2 versions on the X100 in how the port gets it's power and fuse to drive your device different that the peculiars of the data bus wire you are reading . The port can be messed up as well from one report .

Did you specify your car model and year in the device ?

Did you do a engine swap to a different version of the AJ - 8 series ?

Check if there is an option to "force" the protocol. Even if the car has CAN, OBDII is only available on the older ISO 9141/Serial. That, or buy a cheap ELM327 from eBay or Amazon and pair it up with a phone app like TorquePRO.

Thank you all for the reply,s. I dug out my old scanner from about 10 years ago. It needed new battery,s to operate. It used the generic ISO9141 protocall and it did return some codes. So that is progress.
Now to address p0453, P0560,P1121, P1230,P1606,P1671, P1341, P1643, and P1797 pending. Oh joy.....
BTW, the car runs great!

Reset your codes and see if they reappear over time as you may be chasing self induced codes as you tinkerd or old non current faults that stayed flagged . If your older scanner has no reset feature the auto parts stores will reset for free
