No stored codes with fault(s)?
I have had my 2001 XK-8 in for service about every three months for the past year. Last time in I had a TB replaced and an ABS sensor. Now the Traction Control comes on without sufficient cause, so I have been using the dash switch to turn it off once it fails.
Service Rep says no computer codes as to which wheel sensor or other part of system is to blame. Wouldn't that indicate a fautly computer module in and off itself. Reason I ask is my extended/extended warranty runs out in December and I'd like to get fixed what I can before then. Also, issue as to memory in the stering column which I think is related but he says isn't. I love my Jag but if I can't get through this it may be on the market for sale soon! Jeff

Traction control failure could be caused by many things from dirt on a sensor a bad plug/connector or a failed module. Both my cars had the failure and both were caused by the module. Do a search for ABS on any forum. You will have many caused by dirt, poor connection and bad sensors but most are related to the ABS module. Not saying this is your problem, just saying you need to check it out before the extended warranty is up.

Thanks very much for the comments. Hard for me to understand how a system that is designed to monitor itself and keep a record of faults, fails without codes being recorded and I am told no warranty claim until they know what is causing the problem. My position, fix the failure to record the codes so we can find out what else is wrong! Am I crazy?

. . . Am I crazy?
Well . . . you do own a Jaguar.
Dealers are famous for changing out things even without codes.
Being a 9 year old car your warranty probably isn't a Jaguar Select Edition warranty. It must have some requirements/limitations that make the service department question whether they are going to get paid.

Actually, I bought the vehicle with 7K miles as a Select Edition and then purchased an extended warranty though the same company, CNA. Overall they have been pretty good, replacing the engine after the timing chain broke twice. That was under first warranty. And a throttle body last June. So I've exceeded the cost of the warranty. Still, I'm not up for paying for a new control module (if that is needed). Lots of people buy the warranty and don't use it, thats how this deal works!

Good News
I am told that a chaffed wiring harness is to blame for electrical problems. Oh, and two seals, one at the thermostat (antifreeze) and one on the transmission, I think at the differential. Seems logical given the Traction Control coming on so often. Haven't gotten my vehicle back yet, but hopefully this will fix what's malfunctioning.
I found it notable that the loaner 09 XF seems to have an electrical ghost as well. The interior light comes on randomly.
