OBDII Code P0447 Assistance Please.... RESOLVED!
FWIW, my car normally goes through all monitors fairly quickly, except this components monitor that seems to take longer (several drive cycles). Best of luck, I believe you are almost there. Unfortunately, you might have to drive some more in this punishing weather.
Did a 20-mile drive yesterday morning and another 20-mile drive this morning. The components monitor continues being stubborn and refuses to clear. I plan to keep up the daily drives and hope they finally pay off....
Did a couple of drive cycles this morning that I had not previously tried, and then did another 20-mile run. Unfortunately the comprehensive components monitor still refuses to clear. More driving tomorrow - perhaps a longer trip will finally do the trick....
While I continue to wonder why there is a comprehensive component monitor since the OBDII guide says there is not one for the XK8 for either the engine or transmission, I happened upon the letter from Jag attached (circa 2010) in which it is written (on whatever it is they write on out there):
"The drive cycle described in this bulletin provides additional detail to ensure all necessary parameters to set readiness for comprehensive component monitoring are met."
Since they explicitly mention the X103, I guess this would be the instructions to follow and the OBDII DTC guide on this is lies, all lies. (Or this is lies, all lies, but that seems even more inexplicable). So,
1. NC will certainly accept it with only one monitor not set.
2. This may help, happy motoring.
Note: it appears to be short trips with the engine cold that are necessary.

Thanks Dale. John (jagv8) from the S-Type forum directed me to that same TSB document last week, and the drive cycles described within it are the ones I tried yesterday with no success. I plan to do more driving today and as you pointed out, perhaps short trips with a cold engine will finally get the job done. As you know, the car will now pass inspection here in North Carolina with only one monitor being incomplete, but I have grown weary of seeing that P1000 code on my scanner and hope to get it to P1111 status soon. Even my wife is now questioning why the Jaguar engineers concocted such a convoluted process to clear all of these monitors, especially the one that is not supposed to be there...
Hi, Jon and Dale.
I don't believe they ever thought we would figure it out 20 years after they put in the program and would make the dealers rich.
One thing is for sure, they are beautiful cars just sitting there.

SUCCESS !!
That stubborn comprehensive component monitor finally cleared after a trip to the bank and then a slow-and-steady drive around a large residential neighborhood this morning. It is indeed a great relief to finally see that lovely P1111 code appear on my scanner. I wound up driving a little over 200 miles before all the monitors cleared and P1111 appeared....
Many thanks to all who contributed towards resolving this pesky EVAP emissions system issue, especially Dale and Don. Once again this forum proves to be by far the best tool in our toolboxes....
Now I have to find a way to convince my wife to begin driving this car on a regular basis again. She knows that my occasional threats to sell it out from under her will not work this time because it is registered in her name only....

Don,
I have done two more 20-mile runs with this car during the past couple of days and am happy to report that all readiness monitors remain clear and the P1111 OBDII code is all that shows up on my scanner. So I think you can now add "Resolved" to my thread title....
Again, thanks to all who assisted in this effort. Much appreciated, and happy motoring....
