Default Oil Change Question

Changed the oil yesterday without any issue (other than wrangling off and reinstalling the plastic air scoop/diverter/whatever-it-is blocking access to the filter). When I started the engine to circulate the oil for checking the level, I did so with the oil filler cap off. The engine loped as if it had a performance cam in it. Put the cap on and the idle smoothed out per normal. Never experienced that before; is that the norm with the 4.2?

Thanks,
Mickey

I would expect that to be normal. With the oil filler cap off while the engine is running, you have introduced a massive air leak....

Thanks, Jon. Never noticed that on any other vehicle I've had.

Yes, Mickey, that is normal. I noticed it also. European emission systems operate on different principle than US systems.

oh, thought You might be referring to the Silverstone or Goodwood events. I’d love to be in attendance at either of those....
