Default Oil cooler pipes 2001 xkr

Do the oil cooler pipes present any known problems? Also are they difficult to change. Thanks for your help

Yes to both! They are engine killers if they burst and are also easy to change.

To be clear, the _engine_ oil coolers lines are (4) separate sections of "hydraulic" Aluminum/rubber that have a ball park lifespan of 10 years. They are somewhat pricey ($400?) but pretty straightforward to replace. One or more seeping joints is red alert as they ALL see max oil pressure, so all (4) need to be replaced at once. If a joint bursts, all the oil is pumped out of the engine in seconds, and the ignition needs to be shut down FAST.

The _transmission_ oil coolers are a combination of hard metal pipes with flex ends to the cold radiator end tank. Those tend to last but are a bear to replace as they snake around a bit with multiple intermediary hold points. I have no direct experience with that job.

Best of luck, keep us posted.
