What model year is the car? Not that it matters but it would be perhaps informative for someone to set up a sticky spreadsheet or database so that those who have convertibles can indicate if they have had leaks, how old the car was once the leak happened, how they repaired the leak, etc. I realize that his website is a small microcosm of XK8/XKR owners and if you judged only by this you would conclude that virtually 100% of convertibles end up with hydraulic leaks. I wonder what the actual percentage is for ALL owners.

Hi Doug,
thanks for your interest, my car is a 1999 xk8 with 85,250 miles, it hasn't been the most reliable car I've owned but I like a challenge and this one certainly is, I have an on going stabillity control/traction control problem which I am in the process of sorting out, so I didn't need this problem as well, still the joys of owning a jag eh? The fluid that came out was a yellow colour, which indicates that it has the old type fluid installed, green being the upgraded type. By reading this and other forums it would seem that this is a common problem, and Gus who also is a big contributor to this forum has loads of helpful info on this particular subject. There is a link to this via a sticky and I agree with you a database would be useful to other owners, if only to warn of possible problems. Thanks to Gus I have managed to get it all stripped out ready for the new hose, just got to find a better product than the jaguar item. Thanks again, John

I put a procedure on my page that I would use. It is an abbreviated version of the one from Jaguar. http://www.gusglikas.com/AutoRepairHydHose.htm
