Oxidising door seals
As I am sure many forum members have experienced the original rubber covered aluminium seal being prone to aluminium oxidising and causing the rubber to bubble up. I have seen a seller on e-bay selling replacement rubber seals for both drivers & passenger doors and rear window rubbers. Has anyone purchased these items recently and how did they find them?
Front. eBay item number:174541351122
Rear. eBay item number:174577122840
I would be interested to know how easy it is to remove the existing seals and how easy it is to fit the new ones.

The waist rails are held on with spring clips. No screws involved and pulling upwards frees them but it may take some assistance with a thin wooden or plastic spatula at the bottom edge to get them started. Work gradually along the length to avoid distortion. Covering the paintwork at the top of the door with masking tape is a good precaution to avoid scratching.
It's surprising how apparently terminal corrosion can be removed and the waist rails successfully refinished. See this thread:

Unfortunately Keith's photos in the first post disappeared when he moved his online storage but there are plenty of others in the thread to show removal and refurbishment.
Jaguar resolved the waist rail corrosion issue on the later XK by using stainless steel but unfortunately never changed the design of the XK8.

Didn't someone on xk8 Facebook mention the Mini R53 had a near identical door seal.
I ordered a pair from the breakers.
Keyed the chrome strip with wire wool, then two coats of etch primer/dorchester grey/lacquer.
Are they an exact match, no but a layman wouldn't notice the difference.

And hey, £25 delivered. can't complain.
