That Mitzone was used by another member and fit great. Only the Temp sensor was incorrect, and he had to install the OEM Sensor. I have tried to keep up on any problems with the item since my plastic is 10 years old.

I just ordered one. My 21 year old plastic one is deforming around the head flanges and is oozing. I'll post pictures.

Seems like a no-brainer going with an aluminum one. I may even start a new thread on my experience. It would have helped me.

I also just bought an aluminum one on eBay (it's also available on AliExpress). It'll be shipped from the USA.

I too, bought the Mitzone aluminum housing. Looks to be very well made and came in a custom moulded foam lined box. I have yet to install it though it’s on my to-do list. May have to change out the supplied temp sensor for the O.E. as per others.

Now…I just need to find a comprehensive list of ALL the coolant system hoses (2003 MY- NA). When I “go in” I’m gunna replace ALL of the rubber hoses. As far as I can tell all my hoses are O.E. and that makes them 23 years old! So, I’d say their due!

What's wrong with that temperature sensor? I also had to remove the sensor that came with the plastic housing, and I see I'll have to replace the one that comes with the aluminum housing as well. I don't know if it's the sensor itself or the contacts.

Yes, there are silicone hose kits for many cars, but I haven't found any for the XK8 yet.

Looks to be an exact fit.

Just got the Mitzone 4.2 aluminum thermostat housing. I will install after I finish performing a flush.

Looks simple enough except for a clearance problem with the front two torx screws. It appears if I remove the intake front cover plate I should have enough clearance.

I checked on eBay and mine is from the same place, Mitzone. It's about to arrive. Let us know if the thermostat works.
You don't need to completely drain the cooling system: the Forum explains how to do it: by inserting a tube through the expansion tank (it has to pass through the lower tube) and applying the principle of communicating vessels, or by using a large syringe, you can leave the level below the top of the block.

The 3 pcs Stat is difficult to install and remove. We made a slotted tool from 1 1/2 pvc fitting cap and it made easy. I know my existing stat works along with the Temp sensor. Unknown of the import quality of these parts. I will transfer my good parts. That cover o ring is ok if not brittle. A lite wipe down with Hylomar sealant will make a seal.

Here's what I just received from Mitzone via eBay for the XK8.

As you can see, it's almost packaged like an anniversary gift (only the box is more like a gift box). Beautiful. I hope it lasts a long time.

That is a very good looking item. Please let us now if you encounter any install glitches and how resolved them? The 2 fasteners under the plenum cover may require removal of the cover, if O-Ring is pliable and undamaged coat with Hylomar in re use. Hope all goes well!

I have the same Mitzone part(s). Look to be very well made. Pretty nice casting and finishing work. Haven’t installed mine yet though, so anyone who does so first, please report back to everyone!

Cheers,

Brian W.

Just placed order for the Mitzone item. We've had decent weather and garage is comfy I will try the coolant removal thru the Expansion Tank and thru the connector down to the valley hose and see if that removes adequate coolant to allow R&R w/o draining Rad. Will remove my temp sensor prior and replace the Stat with my Existing one Follow-up post later

I get approximately a liter / quart from the expansion tank and another equal volume from snaking a tube down the hole in the bottom of said tank down to the point where the hose has a bend in it and the hose won’t go any deeper, then sucking coolant out down to that level.

that's enough coolant removal to be able to take off the hoses on the thermostat housing on a 2002 XKR without losing any coolant beyond a few drops. Might be a little different on the XK8’s, but I doubt it.

Thank you for info and plan to try that method. After upper hos removed can pull some from it probably enough to get lower lever. Will update one underway.
