Default Please help with Atlas wheels on a 98 xk8

Greetings, I have my 98 xk8 in the paint shop for a total redo, gonna be awesome! So I decided it needed new wheels, the chrome 17" revolvers needed upgrading.
I wanted to stay with an OEM rim, So upon much research I decided to go with the Atlas Wheels. Well, not so fast. All my research said these wheels would work,
And that all these cars were the same, at least on the wheel lug pattern.....Well they are not! Here's what I know to be true so far, All of the Xk8's were the same....
5 lugs 4.75" 121mm But the Atlas rims came on the XKR's..... Which have a different wheel lug pattern..... 5 lugs but 4.25"
So...to all of you wonderful folk out there please help me if there's anything I can do at this point. The rims are about an inch larger in the back. I can get wheel spacer/lug adapters but they are an inch thick, Is that a possible option? I really apprieciate the help. I plan to reveal this car to the mrs at valentines day! lol But gotta have wheels! lol

That's surprising. I never would have guessed they were different.

Make sure your wheel adapters are hub centric.

Believe me, I rode 500 miles to buy them, I surely never expected them not to fit. Several people have suggested Hub centric spacers.
So I need a spacer to go from my 4.75 to 4.25. Any suggestions about the correct spacers? Thanks so much!

What year XKR? Quick Google search shows X150 wheels to be 4.25"...

Yep, The XKR wheels were 4.25 the xk8's which I have are 4.75 I'm not sure what my atlas rims come off of, But I think an xkr.
Did they put that rim on anything else? So is x150 wheels another way of labeling the atlas rims? And they set I have are staggard.
Thanks, brian

Pretty sure they made 2 models of the Atlas rims, one for the x100, then later with the updated lug pattern for the x150.
Same happened to the XJ8 when they moved over to the x350.

Up until the change of wheel PCD in 2006 all xk8's and XKR's had a PCD of 120.65mm. That then changed to 108 mm for both variants. You have bought wheels from a later car.

Ok, We are getting there. So I would strongly suggest anyone buying a set of atlas "or any rims" to measure your
studs and measure the rims your wanting.
In the meantime, Do you think 1" spacer-adapters will work?
I see that most people use spacers, but usually around 1/2 inch
Will 1" be too much and will it be a constant nightmare? Thanks

I would not do it. I would find a proper set and avoid the headaches.

If you look for X100 rims, you need 5x120.65, nothing else. The X150 started to have the 4.25. All rim info is always stamped on the inside, such as lug pattern, width and offset. Next time check .
On the spacers, I dont see how a half inch is strong enough to hold the additional lugs. There are people happily using 1 inch spacers, it all depends how u want it to look. It also depends on the offset of the rims you bought, they might not clear the fender.

Yes! That is the lesson learned here. But this is good info to have out there. Cause one can research for years and believe the atlas wheels were all the same and the lug patterns. Just know there were differences. So, I'm looking for a great set of atlas wheels for the xk8. I'll let you guys know if the spacers are on option. Thanks
