Yeah, I know. Kinda weird. And not a very compelling request. But I'd really appreciate getting a close, personal look at the hooks that hold your floor mats in place.

My car, a 1997, currently has none. There are two round holes in both the driver and passenger carpets for hooks, but no hooks.

The only hook that Jag currently distributes for our cars is part number JLM 20428. I've now purchased four of these hooks, but as you can see from the photo below, the official part and the current hole in the carpet (which matches a hole in the body / flooring below) don't really match up.

The bottom, flat section of this part is hinged on the right, and snaps into the top section on the left. I assume there should be two holes in the carpet holding this piece in place, with the black top piece exposed. Is that right?

Here's a closer shot of the current holes in the carpet, with the matching hole in the floor / bodywork. It's almost as if a hook used to screw in somehow.

Anyway, it would be helpful if I could get a quick look at what a few of you have for floor mat hooks. Please post away! And thanks.

Here is what I have in my 2001 XK8. It didn't see how to pull them out, but it appears they "clip" to the bottom carpet piece for the mat to hook on. The little ridges on the inside of the bottom clip keep it from moving. Perhaps the hole is to seat the front section of the clip.

Also looks like there is a slit in the bottom carpet piece for this clip to slide in so you end up with it above and below the carpet. Once in place, the mat hooks on.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Jag#4...not crazy about cutting a slit in my existing carpets to accomodate this hook design, but I suppose that's what I'll have to do.

Anyone else out there with a different type of floor mat hook in their cars?

I don't know if this is relevant or important, but on my 2005 there is only one central hook on each side (driver & passenger). The head looks like the one in your photo. I ordered a set of mats and they came with two holes cut out, neither of which lined up with my central hook.

Default No hooks

Good morning.

There are no hooks, but some fairly large plastic studs/screws that go through the holes in the carpet and screw/twist into the floor. No cutting in the carpet please.
I have no pictures right now as I am in my pyjamas sipping my morning coffee and it is cold outside, but I will try to get some.
The hooks you have pictured are the type I have in my X-type.

Here's the kind of hook you've got fitted in my XK8. Only one hook per side on the later models:

There's a slot cut in the carpet for the front of the hook. It clips together through the existing rear hole in the carpet.

The hook only fits to the carpet. it isn't stuck to the vehicle floor.

Excellent! My European friends have answered the call, while those of us in the US slept.

Oyster, you've got a 1997 just as I do, and I feel sure that my original, OE floor mats were secured just like yours. I assume you just push the piece straight down into the hole, the ribs hold it in place, and you pry it out when you need to, yes?

I feel sure I can find something similar that will work.

GGG, thank you for your photo as well...if I don't find something like Oyster's push-in type I will bring out the razor blade.

And thank you, Frog - I hope you're happy and healthy.

Found it!

The fixing in Oyster's pics is a Turn Stud (item 4) and it fastens into a Cam Plate (item 3):

Part Numbers

Cam Plate : KRF100001
Turn Stud : AGU2229xxx

For the Turn Stud, 'xxx' will be the Trim Code for your vehicle.

You're right...that's it, Graham. Thank you very much.

I suppose they updated the design so that the floor mats could be removed easily without having to uproot the turn studs, which would degrade them a bit each time and eventually they wouldn't hold.

Thanks guys.

Exactly.

The floor mats are very easy to remove from the later 'single hook' type of fixing whilst being securely held when in use.

Default No uproot

You turn the studs 90 degrees with a coin or a large screwdriver, and they come out. A little fiddly to get back in, but same turn 90 and they sit tight.
