Default quarter windows stuck

The quarter window regulators are shot, The top is up with bad hoses in the header. Question, Can i manually lower the roof with the windows in the closed position without breaking something?
When the switch to lower the windows is pressed I hear motors running and what sounds like cables binding with only partial movement of the windows, Any direction is appreciated

Yes, but very carefully. If the raised rear windows do not slide past the convertible top seals, try putting some silicone spray on them...do not force.

Will the top operate with the latch hose connections capped and windows up or do I need to lower it manually? Will the rams operate without the windows in the down position. Are there micro switches on the regulators that would prevent operation?

Denny, You have some main issues and need to learn more about what is happening in this system before you make some major mistakes. Go to Gus's site or Dennis and spend a couple of hours getting to know all that is holy about these tops. They can be fixed, but not without knowledge and the most important part, MONEY!!! Of course the more you know the less of the latter will be needed.

I agree Knowledge is power. That is why I am seeking advice. I don't think I can remove the quarter window regulators with the top up. Correct me if that assumption is incorrect.

Just a heads up on manually lowering the top - make sure you put the over centre latches into the correct position before lowering the top or else you will damage the roof frame - very expensive.

Denny, The references I asked you to look at are from people who have studied these tops intently and it's all right there in the DIY section at the beginning of the forum.
Some times it's not easy to just come up with an answer too one problem as these cars will need lots of things taken apart just to get at the source.
The top will need to come down to get the rear windows out, in fact Jag says you need to take the top off.
Have a look and you will be amazed how much information is available.

I just pulled the rear passenger side regulator. To insure the window doesn't break when you lower the top manually, if you can get an the window down about an inch, that is all the clearance you'll need. If you can't, I am pretty certain the top will lift up and fall back anyway, without any lateral stress on the rear window glass.

Read the PDF DIY on replacing the rear regulator. It's pretty easy to find. And yes you need to loosen and pry back, and push down, the convertible top frame bracket. To do this, there are three (3) 13mm bolts that are only exposed while the top is UP. So pull all your interior seats, rear speakers, etc. and then manually... or power up if you can... the top to loosen the top frame bracket.
