Default The Queen's Jaguar

This morning my wife woke me, punching me in the ribs to turn on the TV and watch the Queen's funeral. She's lived in two of the British colonies (and the USA !) and loves all things British - except my XK8.

Anyway, I shooed her away and told her to go watch the big screen downstairs.

Already awake now, I joined her. It was all very colorful and somber and organized.

Then they put the Queen's casket in the Jaguar hearse and the party started! I was surprised to see such a big Leaper on the trunk - though some royal thingie replaced the Leaper on the hood. But all in all, the hearse looked very sleek with fantastically large windows for viewing. It was nice to see the British people cheering as the hearse passed. What a beautiful send off !

Hopefully there were no Engine Fault or Vehicle Performance Limited lights on the dash, though it wasn't travelling very fast!

I noticed on the wide shots that the hearse, along with the other vehicles in the procession weren't actually painted black, as it seemed in the close up shots, but a dark Royal hue, perhaps Royal purple or dark red. It was very elegant.

Let me offer my condolences to my British Jaguar friends. Your Queen had a nice run and a beautiful send off.

Edit: I just clipped this from Car and Driver: The hearse was designed by The Royal Household and Jaguar Land Rover, and the queen was consulted on the plans and approved the final model before her death. The state hearse is finished in the shade Royal Claret, the same color as the official royal and state vehicles kept in the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace and used by members of the royal family on official duties, per Buckingham Palace.

Did you notice no number plate ? Any car the queen/king travels in does not need to be registered /MOT or insured.

I suppose that if the King hits a Royal Subject and is Royally sued for damages, then the Royal pockets are deep enough to foot the bill, with no need for insurance.

In the UK the road is referred to as the Queens Highway so she can drive on it any time ..its called tradition.
All the morons emigrated and are now called septic tanks.

Oh my! Seems we have crossed a line here. Deep breaths everyone. I for one would like to offer MY condolences to the UK members and all of the UK citizens everywhere. My heart goes out to you as I think she was a lovely lady of grace and poise. She had seen unbelievable things in her lifetime and reign. May she rest in peace.
Long live the King, TM

She was a true "World wide Diplomate" for the UK. Hopefully Charles will continue.
If she 'owns the road' it would be silly to required plates, etc.
Did she use the Jag instead on R.R. because it is owned by V.W.? How about Bentley? Anyhow, good promo for Jag at a bad time.
Condolences to All U.K. citizens. Big changes ahead??

The Royal Family have had a number of Jaguar and Daimler cars over the years. Here's an example showing the Queen driving her Jaguar 3.0 X type Estate in which she was often seen driving around the Windsor grounds.

She learned to drive and to service army vehicles when she served in the Army Transport Service (ATS) in 1944

Yes, she was a trained mechanic allegedly.

You see a lot of XJs being used for official business. Prime ministers often get ferried around in them too.
