Default question about car covers

My 2003 XK8 convertible is stored in a garage. I'd like to get a cover for it to keep the dust off of it, however I'm not sure whether that's such a good idea due to the convertible top. I'm concerned about it trapping moisture and thus leading to mildew etc on the fabric of the top.

I have another car with a "breathable" cover on it, which I presume might be better for the convertible top fabric, however that cover is so porous that it does very little to keep the dust off.

Any recommendations?

I have a Jaguar factory cover and it works quite well. Bought it off ebay for a little over $100. Its an indoor cover I can't image it outside.

I've got an official Jaguar car cover that I have used both inside and outside and never had any mildew problems. The only problem I do have, is that it is very hard to clean the cover and as a result, if you put it on the car when the car is dirty, that dirt gets transferred back to the car (and the convertible roof in particular) when you put the cover back on.

My advice would be never put a cover on a dirty car.

There is a car cover called Dustop. I got one from California Car Cover, but it is available from other places also. It keeps the dust out, breathes and is very soft so as to not damage the paint surface. It is washable, but I had to take mine to a commercial laundry service because of the size.
